ยป Wheel of Time: Another Trilogy?
OK. I’m a die-hard Robert Jordan fan, I admit it. I hate him and I love him. And now he’s dead. And the bastard didn’t finish the stupid series before he died. BUT, here’s some news to me, Brandon Sanderson is apparently going to finish it off for us. In a 3 book trilogy. Ugh. Here’s the bright side: Sanderson is really good… Hailey’s been reading his Mistborn trilogy and freaking out about it excitedly (i.e. telling her non-fantasy-reading friends that they have to read it, immediately). I read it, loved it. And, even more importantly, the first of the new WoT trilogy (The Gathering Storm) is coming out October 27th. Really. Of course, it sounds like it’s going to be filler (possibly new kinds of Sanderson-esque filler?), but hey… this is the cross Jordan fans must bear.

You sold me on the WoT a long time ago, but I couldn’t stand the “hurry up and wait” of it. This, at least, I have learned.

Hmmm… I own the Wheel of Time series up to and including book 10, I think, and I’ve read them all up to book 9 or 10 (mostly while in CS354 Operating Systems).
So I’d need re-read at least a few of the books to get back into them, before reading book 11 and the new ones. And if I’m going to do that, I will just go full out and read the entire series again from the beginning. So my question (mostly to myself) is, is it worth it? Should I re-read the first 9 or 10 books so I can enjoy the new ones? I guess I’ll wait until Ryley has read all the new ones and then tells me if they’re worthwhile or not…
I think I’ll check out the first Mistborn book, based on Ryley’s second-hand recommendation, after I finish god is not Great.
