What? A blasted post-pollution-apocalypse hellscape? A boat stuck in a dead river? That looks worse than the surface of Mars!

I suspect that’s the Aral Sea, the biggest aquatic environmental disaster in the world.
Basically, there used to be an inland sea. Then there was too much irrigation, now there is not.
