We started early on Sunday: 1330. The first thing we did was cut the shot list down to the minimum needed for total coverage. I was concerned about having a long day so next we set regular breaks. We simulated night by blocking the windows and, the family gone for the day, we shot all of the remaining day two interior material at a good pace. We wrapped the interiors at approximately 1630 and half the crew went for a break.

The other half did a small team shoot for the teaser in the studio at Fanshawe. This went over-schedule but was complete by approximately 1900.

The reassembled team arrived at the second location at 1930 to shoot. The first problem we encountered was that the breaker had tripped on the night of the first shoot. I talked my way into the church’s electrical room and flipped the breaker myself after a staffer told me he had tried to do so unsuccessfully. This successfully restored power.

Once again I asked the director to greatly restrict the number of shots he had planned to shoot in the street. We pared the list down from about ten, to five, and then to three — which we successfully covered.

We moved location again to complete the shots from our first night, but a truck had taken the spot. We re-set and re-lit to simulate the environment of the first night, and then completed our shots at 0100.

We wrapped and struck, and on the way home were pulled over by the police. No tickets were issued.

On the second day our early momentum was disrupted by noise from children as we were shooting in a family home.

After that we had trouble getting into a state of flow because, perhaps, of the lack of positive energy on-set. We ended up cutting down our coverage of scenes 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D so that we could record all the dialogue in the available time by sacrificing coverage. We covered 1E completely.

This rescheduling upset the director severely. By the end of the night, he was extremely frustrated with our progress towards the shooting goals. We wrapped for the day and while the team packed up he and I had a private meeting to discuss the schedule going forward.

After that meeting, and an early-morning footage review, the director agreed that we were right to sacrifice some coverage of individual scenes in order to fit other shots into the schedule more reasonably.

That said, we shot approximately a quarter of what we planned on Saturday. We are making parts of it up as I write this, now, starting earlier than originally planned on Sunday.
