Home ยป Starbucks Boycott

Via WhyProhibition.ca: Starbucks, The North Face, and the alcohol industry are sponsoring anti-Cannabis lobbying efforts.

No more Starbucks for me! I was only looking for a little push to avoid them anyway…

  1. Did you actually look into this? The lobbyists in question are the Colorado Drug Investigators Association. It appears that it is a grassroots organization created by individuals professionally involved in drug enforcement. In particular, the only news story in mainstream media that mentions the organization talks about a federal employee going rogue to lobby for them.

CIDA’s website has been shut down (perhaps by the administrators?). I believe the evidence being used by the Cannabis blogs is this page of sponsor logos. Based on that, my guess is that the manager of a local Starbucks decided to throw them a couple of free coffees without checking with head office. I bet that manager has been sacked and a press release avowing no relation to CIDA is forthcoming.

But, you know, if you really need an excuse to boycott, I can see why you’d go with the knee jerk…
