» Review: Watchmen
It’s Alan Moore, of course you should see it.
The opening credits are great (shades of the Baz Luhrman intrabellum-colored propaganda effect I liked in Australia).
And for those in the know: Hollywood didn’t spoil the ending.

Warning: Non-specific spoilers: If you haven’t read the book, you might not want to read my comment. If you have read the book, but haven’t seen the movie, then you definitely shouldn’t read this.
Although, in the real ending, humanity puts aside its infighting to work together to defend against a common threat.
In the movie ending, humanity stops fighting for fear that God will punish them again if they continue their wickedness. They substituted a theistic ending for an atheistic ending.
Still, a very good movie. I’d say that Hollywood didn’t spoil the movie, and the ending wasn’t bad.

That’s a great point, and I do wonder why they bothered to change the ending (it’s not like the one they picked required much less CG). I guess to avoid the psychic thing — make the story a bit more “serious”.
Still, Manhattan delivers the same last line in both, right? “Life is neat. I think I’ll go make some”, basically?
I guess the key change is in his reason for leaving.
