In Canada we have threeish heads of state: the Queen, the Governor General and the Prime Minister. The US is a more celebrity-obsessed culture and yet have only one, so a lot of attention goes to the President. Case in point: some Democrats have decided that since Barack Obama is a good campaigner, his wife must be attractive (and their marriage is great, etc.).

Now I’m not saying Michelle’s not pretty (although she dresses badly), but she’s no Jackie-O (NSFW), and she’s definitely no Carla Bruni, the most desirable woman in the world.

OK, OK, I know you not writing a political science textbook here, I know that threeish != three, and I’m sure that you yourself are aware of these distinctions, but I feel compelled to state the following.
Just because the United States does not understand the differences between head of state and head of government, that does not make the prime minister even slightly or sort-of or kind-of our head of state.
And just because the governors general of late, and more so the advisors at Rideau Hall, have displayed a mixture of vaingloriousness, misinformation, disloyalty, and fringe theories, the governor general is not our head of state.

Haha, Don, I knew you were going to call me on that.
I assert that Clarkson took some Head of Statism from the Queen and Harper took some from Jean. But regardless, I was using the term culturally rather than legally. Perhaps “Head of Nation” is a more accurate term?

Maybe Boss? That would also tie into Alex’s writing.
