ยป Jerry Reed
Thanks to The Hilarious House of Frightenstein I’m getting into Jerry Reed. He’s like a happy Johnny Cash. Remember that when you listen to country mostly what you’re listening to is a dialogue between the authoritarian and the outlaw.

Here’s Amos Moses again:
She Got The Goldmine (I Got the Shaft):
Fucking great. I have a theory country is white rap, or was before Eminem anyway. They’re equivalent: spoken narrative, slightly melodic, rhythmic rhymes. The first and third are perfect examples. They should move Jerry Reed joints like these across to Rock Band — it needs more barn burners.
Anyway, The Essential Jerry Reed is now sitting next to The Essential Johnny Cash in my iTunes. Should the mood strike me I can just let them play through.
